Scoreminator ("the app") is a score-keeping app for board, card and darts games, published by Fluttech ("we", "us"). You play with your own physical games; the app records the scores. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, who can see it, and how you can get rid of it.
Scoreminator is offline-first: everything works with no connection, and the device copy is what the app reads while you play. It stores locally:
Uninstalling the app removes everything in this list from the device.
The first time the app reaches the internet, it signs you in anonymously (Firebase Authentication). No prompt appears, because nothing about you is asked for: the account is a random identifier generated for this install. From then on, the players, game records and settings described in section 2 are mirrored to a private area of our database that only that account can read. This is what lets your history come back after a reinstall, and it is the only reason we do it.
Some settings deliberately stay on the phone and are never uploaded: unfinished game checkpoints, one-time hint dismissals, and the bookkeeping the app uses to remember what it has already synced.
Signing in is optional and is only required to create or join a group. It attaches a real identity to the anonymous account you already have, so nothing you recorded before is lost. From the sign-in provider we receive:
The name shown to other people in a group is the nickname you choose in the app, not necessarily your provider name — you can change it at any time in Settings, and you may optionally add a full name so people can tell two players with the same nickname apart.
A group is a shared table — a family, a pub team, a circle of friends. When you create or join one, the following becomes visible to the other members of that group only:
A new group is open: every member sees every game played in it. The app says so on the screen where you create one, because it is a fact about other people's history as much as your own. The owner can switch a group to closed in the group's settings, and from then on a member sees only the games they took part in, plus what is shared for a league or is being watched live. Either way a group is never public: there is no directory, nothing is indexed by search engines, and a group can only be joined with an invitation code or QR code created by one of its members.
Scoreminator has no chat and no free-text messaging. The only text that travels between people is names — of players, groups and games.
While a group game is being played, the host can share a live scoreboard so other members can follow it on their phones. For as long as the game runs, the current player names, avatars, scores and round number are written to a temporary document that group members may read. It is deleted as soon as the game ends; if the host's phone never got the chance — it was closed mid-game — the app clears it the next time it runs. The document also carries an expiry stamp 23 hours out, so that nothing can outlive the evening it belongs to.
Independently of any account, your phone can act as a small web server on your own local network (HTTP, port 7777) so that a TV browser or another phone on the same Wi-Fi can display the live scoreboard: player names, avatars and scores of the current game. This traffic never leaves your network, is not routed through us, and stops when you end the broadcast or leave the app. Because it is plain local HTTP, treat it the way you would treat anything else on a shared Wi-Fi: anyone on the same network who finds the address can view the scoreboard while it runs.
| Data | Stored where | Visible to |
|---|---|---|
| Players, game history, settings | Your device, and your private cloud space | You only |
| Name, email, user id from sign-in | Firebase Authentication | You, and us as administrator |
| Nickname, full name, avatar, role | The group you joined | Members of that group |
| Group game results | The group | Members, per the closed/open setting above |
| Live scoreboard (while a game runs) | Temporary document, deleted at the end | Members of that group |
| Local-network scoreboard | Nowhere — sent directly over your Wi-Fi | Devices on your Wi-Fi |
| Backup file you export | Wherever you send it | Whoever you send it to |
Scoreminator is free and supported by advertising served by Google AdMob: a banner on some screens (history, statistics, Legends and the scoring screens — never on the home screen), and an optional rewarded video if you choose to share or watch a live scoreboard. Nothing in the app is locked behind an ad: if a video cannot be loaded, or you are offline, sharing and watching work anyway.
To serve and measure ads, Google may process device information, including advertising identifiers — see how Google uses data from apps that use its services. Your controls:
Google's Mobile Ads SDK is part of the app, and it collects and shares with Google, automatically:
Google uses these for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. This is the one part of Scoreminator that reports anything about how the app is used, and the collection is Google's rather than ours: we receive no personal data back from AdMob, only aggregate reporting about how often ads were shown.
Every request the app makes to our database carries a token from Firebase App Check, which proves the request comes from a genuine, unmodified copy of Scoreminator rather than from a script. On Android this uses Google Play Integrity, on iOS Apple's App Attest (with DeviceCheck as a fallback on older devices). The check is about the app and the device, not about you: it produces no profile and is never used for advertising.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Camera | Only to scan a group invitation QR code. The camera reads the code and nothing else — no photo is taken, kept or uploaded. |
| Local network (iOS) | The Wi-Fi scoreboard in section 6.2. |
| Internet | Cloud sync, group features and ads. |
| Notifications | Only for optional reminders the app shows on the device itself. We send no push messages, and nothing about a reminder leaves your phone. |
| File access | Only when you pick a backup file to import, or save one. Your photo library is never read. |
The app never asks for location, contacts, microphone, health or call data, because it has no use for them. (The ad SDK estimates a rough area from your IP address, as section 8.1 describes — that needs no permission, and the app itself never learns where you are.)
We add no analytics service of our own, no crash-reporting service, no advertising network other than AdMob, and we use no data broker of any kind. The analytics that do happen are Google's, inside the ad SDK described in section 8.1.
Cloud data is stored in Google's European Union multi-region
(Firestore eur3) and is encrypted in transit. Google, as our
processor, may process some data outside the EU under its own safeguards; see
the Google links above.
Settings → Account → Delete account removes, straight away:
What stays: the results of games played inside a group remain in that group's history, as scores attached to a seat rather than to you. They are the other members' record of games they also played, so they are not ours to erase on one member's request — after your deletion nothing in them points back to your account or your name. If you want a specific group's history removed as well, ask that group's owner, or write to us at the address in section 16.
Smaller deletions need no account action: deleting a player or a game record in the app removes it from the device and from the cloud, and leaving a group removes you from it in the same way as above. You can also request deletion by email — see fluttech.com/scoreminator/delete_account.html.
Scoreminator is a general-audience utility intended for users aged 13 and over, and it is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA, where local law sets that age). A child can use the app at the table without an account, and their name on a scoreboard is typed by whoever is keeping score. If you believe a child has signed in and given us personal information, write to contact@fluttech.com and we will delete the account and its data.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, delete and export your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to your national data-protection authority. In practice:
Our legal basis is the performance of the service you asked for (keeping and syncing your scores, and running groups you join), our legitimate interest in keeping the service working and unabused (App Check), and your consent where it is required (personalised advertising).

If the app changes in a way that affects your data, this policy is updated and the "Last updated" date above changes with it. The current version is always available in the app under Settings → About → Privacy Policy.
